ZHOU (JOE) ZHANG, PH.D, CFA

Dr. Zhang is an Associate Professor in Finance at the Hill and Levene Schools of Business in the Faculty of Business Administration, University of Regina. He is a founding member of URI and has been serving as the Faculty Advisor to URI program since 2018. Dr. Zhang received his Ph.D. in Finance from the University of Manitoba and is a Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA). He was the recipient of CPA Research Scholar, Leaders Council Scholar, Viterra Faculty Fellow and CMA Faculty Fellow. Dr. Zhang served as the Education Chair and a board member for the CFA Society of Saskatchewan. He currently teaches undergraduate and graduate courses related to corporate finance and international finance. Dr. Zhang is an active researcher. His research interests are primarily in corporate finance areas with a focus on cross-country studies. He also conducts cross-disciplinary research on corporate social responsibility and occupational community. He has published papers in the Journal of Business Ethics, Journal of Corporate Finance, Journal of Business Finance and Accounting, Financial Review, Accounting, Auditing & Accountability Journal, British Journal of Management, Journal of Business Research, European Business Review, Journal of Cleaner Production, Emerging Markets Finance & Trade, Quantitative Finance, International Review of Financial Analysis, International Review of Economics & Finance, and Finance Research Letters.

YOUNGSOO KIM, PH.D

Youngsoo is an Associate Professor in Finance at the Hill and Levene Schools of Business in the Faculty of Business Administration, University of Regina. Youngsoo is one of founding members of URI. Since URI’s inception, Youngsoo has been a member of the Investment Committee and Board of Directors. He firmly believes that students can learn invaluable lessons from their experience with URI. Youngsoo has received his Ph.D. in finance from the Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania. He has taught finance courses both in undergraduate and graduate school. His research areas include politics and finance, market microstructure and rational expectations equilibrium. His papers are published in journals such as Journal of Financial and Quantitative Analysis, Journal of Banking and Finance and Quantitative Finance. In his spare time, he enjoys traveling, hiking, biking, gardening and watching opera.

ARTURO RUBALCAVA, PH.D

Dr. Arturo Rubalcava is an Associate Professor in Finance at the Hill and Levene Schools of Business in the Faculty of Business Administration, University of Regina. He obtained his PhD (Finance) from the Molson School of Business at Concordia University, in Montreal. Arturo has been a member of the URI investment committee since 2016. He teaches finance courses in the Faculty of Business Administration at the University of Regina. His research interest is in empirical studies in the areas of International Corporate Finance, Market Efficiency, Capital/Ownership structure, and Equity Offerings. Specifically, his focus is on Canadian firms listed on the Toronto Stock Exchange. Author of peer-reviewed book chapters and journals such as the Journal of Financial Intermediation, Journal of Multinational Financial Management, The International Journal of Business and Finance Research and others.
